After a great nights sleep we headed down to breakfast before being picked up by Katie’s friend to do a day of temples. We took a few croissants for lunchtime snack. The food was lovely lots of fruit, salad, little cakes, and best of all the red chicken curry with egg and noodles – lovely start to the day. It is already 30 Celsius at 8.30am going to be a hot one.
My back was not happy today but I know once I get moving it will be great – as well as some exercises that Kane has given me.
Wow what a day – the temples were the reason I have always wanted to go to Cambodia – I would say they didn’t disappoint intact I never expected them to be so amazing.
The first temple we saw Ta Nei was deep in the jungle only 2 or 3 other people were there over grown with jungle trees it just came out of no where. It was built in the reign of jayavarman VII(1181-1218) and has mainly been destroyed by the jungle. It was so amazing to see all the carvings. In one of the rooms their were some bats – anyone who knows me knows I love these little critters
We also wandered into the jungle toward a sign for botanical gardens but the road split and we did not want to get lost. It was so noisy in the jungle lots of cicardas making it hard to hear each other talk, termite mounds everywhere and spiders webs which Katie said not to put my hands near as nasty little spiders and we didn’t want a trip to the hospital !!
