Unfortunately when we got to the balloon ride place it was too windy to fly so we waited 30 minutes but wind got stronger so we couldn’t fly.
Picture of what we should have seen
At 5pm we wanted to go to town to get a small present for Mr Yorts baby as we were meeting him and his family for dinner. Katie had hired a 50cc moped – so off we went – it was great -traffic comes from every direction you give way to every direction and everyone uses their horns to tell you where they are – pretty hair raising!! We survived got a little elephant mobile and headed back to the hotel.
At 6pm Mr Yort picked us up with his beautiful wife, 8 month old daughter and a friend of his wife who spoke very good English. The little girl was fast asleep
We headed off to this massive night market it had a fun fair and over 2 miles of markets – 1 mile clothes and toys, 1 mile food. We stopped at a roadside restaurant – you kneel round tables with a little stove and have either bbq or soup – we had the soup – a sort of broth and they bring you lots of extra bits to put in to cook yourself beef chunks, straw mushrooms, squid, prawns, noodles, park Chou, beef strips with egg, garlic then you boil it to cook the ingredients and dip it in chilli sauce – which I tried one then avoided – it was lovely and some anchor beer and ice (which we may regret – but so hot). It was a completely authentic Cambodian meal and a brilliant way to end our holiday here.
We then headed to town and had our last foot, leg, shoulder and back massage before heading to the market we saw some lovely bits to eat – anyone for scorpion, spider, frog or cockroach???
Mad Murphys Irish bar’ as it was St Patrick’s day.
There was great writing on the wall too
Katie befriended the owner who was from Dublin and we got another free anchor beer we were singing Irish songs at the top of our voices.
Before heading back to the hotel to pack and get ready for flying early tomorrow morning still singing but this time Gloria Gaynor ‘I will survive’
